“The Poti New Seaport received its first ship today,” - Vasil Maziashvili, the Executive Director of the Pace Group member company Transford stated.
"The Poti New Seaport allows us to receive ships of 50,000 tons. The berth is 260 meters long and 13 meters deep. Moreover, we expect that this one berth alone will be able to increase the processed cargo by 2 million tons. Therefore, if Pace Group handled an average of 6 million tons of cargo annually, under the conditions of the new berth it will increase by 8-9 million tons," - Vasil Maziashvili said.
In addition, as the Transford CEO stated, “due to the developments in the region, the flow of cargo has increased, which is both an opportunity and a challenge, so PACE GROUP had invested $3 million this year to purchase the necessary equipment.”
"Actually, we reinvested $3 million in order to handle the increased cargo flow with quality and, most importantly, to maintain the cargo flow that entered our corridor after the war, even after the situation in the region calms down.
In general, any business should focus on identifying the problem and eliminating it not - locally, but systemically, so that we can keep cargo in the corridor, although it should be noted that this does not depend only on the determination of our country - the ferry crossing the Caspian Sea should be developed and improved; The railways of Azerbaijan should also be developed, the capacity of our railways should be increased, and of course, the port infrastructure should be improved. Thus, I think that as a result of correct analysis of the existing challenges and joint ways of systematic elimination of problems and monitoring, we will be able to maintain the cargo flow", - Vasil Maziashvili said.
