The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said law enforcement officers had arrested one individual for gender-based premeditated murder of his transgender partner, model and actor Kesaria Abramidze, in the country’s capital Tbilisi.
The Ministry said the arrest had been made for “premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances”.
The body added its investigation had established the arrested offender had allegedly inflicted several stab wounds during an argument with Abramidze and fled from the scene. The victim died on the spot, with the incident taking place on Wednesday in Dighomi district.
It said law enforcement officers had carried out investigative activities that led to the arrest of the alleged offender and seizure of a knife as evidence.
The crime is punishable by 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
