Over 300 hectares of new peach and plum orchards have been established across Georgia through the ‘Plant the Future’ programme, according to the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
Total investment in the initiative exceeded GEL 4.3 million, with the Rural Development Agency contributing GEL 1.7 million in co-financing support.
The Ministry reports that the programme—aimed at promoting horticulture—has also facilitated the development of cold storage and processing infrastructure. These improvements have helped boost agricultural output and, in turn, positively affected household incomes in participating regions.
Officials describe the initiative as part of a broader strategy to modernize Georgia’s agricultural sector and strengthen rural economies.
