"The Vice-President of the National Bank of Georgia, Ekaterine Mikabadze, participated in the conference on the development of securitization in Georgia, organized with the support of Galt & Taggart and the USAID's Economic Security Program," - the National Bank reports.
Reportedly, Ekaterine Mikabadze focused on the importance of the emergence of alternative sources of financing in the country and emphasized the efforts of the National Bank in conducting the capital market reforms.
"The law on conversion into securities - securitization - and the related legislative amendments were approved by the Parliament of Georgia in December 2023. The new legal framework substantially reduces the risks associated with securitization and provides transaction transparency for investors.
The goal of the reform is to increase the availability of financing in the country for both the financial and non-financial sectors. The new law will allow business entities to convert stable flows of future receivables into the current liquid assets and expand their activities based on that.
The conference participants had the opportunity to learn about the results of the Galt & Taggart research on the development of securitization in Georgia, which included trends in the development of securitization in both developed and developing countries and, based on this analysis, the prospects of securitization in Georgia," the release notes.
