
A parliamentary delegation headed by Givi Mikanadze, Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee, has paid an official visit to Hungary.
During the visit, the delegation met with Lőrinc Nacsa, Head of the Hungary-Georgia Friendship Group in the National Assembly of Hungary, and László Pósán, Chair of the Culture Committee.
At the meeting with Nacsa, both sides reviewed parliamentary ties and collaboration between Friendship Groups and sector committees. The discussion emphasized the importance of the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between the Parliament of Georgia and the National Assembly of Hungary, as well as the strong interparliamentary relations.
Mikanadze thanked his Hungarian counterparts for their ongoing support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and European aspirations. The delegation also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, and youth.
Further discussions focused on promoting collaboration between the two countries’ higher educational and research institutions, including joint participation in the EU Research and Innovation funding program “Horizon Europe.” Additionally, the significance of youth exchange programs and parliamentary diplomacy was underscored.
Mikanadze invited László Pósán to visit Georgia to plan joint activities, and Pósán committed to a future visit.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation included Givi Mikanadze, Giorgi Chakvetadze (First Deputy), Paata Salia (Deputy Chair), and David Matikashvili (Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee). The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to Hungary and Montenegro, H.E. Tamar Liluashvili.
