
Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, convened a meeting with representatives from key state agencies to discuss a draft legal package concerning pet animals and related enforcement mechanisms.
According to the Parliament’s press office, the discussion centered around the timeline and conditions for adopting various legal acts to be approved by the Government, including input from the Ministries of Finance, Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Regional Development, and local municipalities.
Key topics included the responsibilities of pet owners, particularly regarding the identification and registration of animals. The group also addressed the obligations of entities involved in pet management and the implementation timeline for penalties outlined in the Administrative Offences Code.
Attendees included representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Tbilisi Animal Monitoring Agency, and the Agriculture Minister of the Adjara Autonomous Republic along with his deputies.
