Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili criticized Estonian officials on social media, noting that while Estonia contributed 150 troops to NATO’s mission in Afghanistan, Georgia deployed 1,560. According to Papuashvili, those same Estonian figures had encouraged Georgia to escalate tensions with Russia without offering any security guarantees.
His remarks came in response to Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who stated that Estonia would send troops to Ukraine if security guarantees included peacekeeping forces. Papuashvili argued that those who once pressed Georgia toward confrontation with Russia are now seeking assurances for their own military personnel, despite being part of NATO.
