In January-July 2022, Georgia imported 5,823 tons (worth of $17,279 million) of second-hand clothes, which is a record figure.
To be informed, the data on the volume of second-hand clothes bought by Georgia have been available since 2011 on the external trade portal of the National Statistics Office of Georgia. At that time, the country purchased 4,031 tons ($17,286 million) of second-hand clothes. Since then, the volume of imported products did not exceed 3.1-4.8 thousand tons. In January-July 2021, second-hand imports amounted to 4,637 tons ($11,923 million).
As for the current year, Georgia bought 5,823 tons of second-hand clothes in 43 countries of the world, and the largest amount in Turkey - 1,915 tons (worth of $5,466 million).
The list of the top-10 countries, where Georgia bought second-hand clothes, is as follows:
- Turkey - 1,915 tons ($5,466 million)
- Pakistan - 881.1 tons ($1.050 million)
- The United Kingdom - 668.8 tons ($1,645 thousand)
- Belgium - 385.2 tons ($937.6 thousand)
- Poland - 286.2 tons ($628 thousand)
- Italy - 232.9 tons ($665.9 thousand)
- The USA - 219.7 tons ($3.013 million)
- The United Arab Emirates - 212.7 tons ($510.8 thousand)
- Spain - 161.6 tons ($571 thousand)
- The Netherlands - 153.9 tons ($531 thousand)
