The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution titled “Uphold democracy and the rule of law in Georgia”, with 68 votes in favor, 7 against, and 2 abstentions.
Prior to the vote, several amendments were incorporated, including a key provision expressing concern over reports that former Georgian delegates to PACE face possible criminal prosecution for their parliamentary activities. The Assembly reaffirmed that its members must not be prosecuted for words spoken or votes cast in the exercise of their duties.
The rest of the resolution remained unchanged, reflecting continued concern over democratic backsliding and urging Georgia to respect its obligations as a Council of Europe member.
