According to the head of the Government, the Government has done everything to ensure that there is peace, stability and high economic growth in the country.

"Welcome, dear friends, I greet Mr. Koba Gvenetadze, the Chairman of the Parliament, members of the Parliament and the Government, honorable ambassadors, business representatives. I want to thank you all. First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Koba for fruitful and successful work. I would like to take this opportunity to once again summarize the successful economic policy and achievements of the financial system of Georgia, to which, of course, Mr. Koba Gvenetadze has contributed as the President of the National Bank.

Our Government has done everything so that we have peace, stability and high economic growth in the country today. You remember the huge losses caused by the pandemic, then the geopolitical reality, which is the most difficult. Despite these two major challenges, we have had double-digit economic growth for the past two years. I remember that there was an acute political and economic crisis in the country. Added to this was the pandemic. Lack of vaccines. I will very briefly remind you of the situation I found myself in, it was a budget deficit of almost 10%. The country's debt was over 60% of GDP. The exchange rate of GEL was almost 3.4 against the dollar. We had an economic decline of 6%. We had no vaccines, the economy was in full lockdown, and the political crisis was added to it. In such a situation, I remember the predictions that were made then by the management of the National Bank, as well as the predictions that we received in the Government. But as a result of our coordinated work, as a result of the right and effective steps taken by the government, as well as the very constructive approaches of Mr. Koba [Governor of the National Bank of Georgia], we were able to finish 2021 with double-digit economic growth, when quite competent people believed that the country was going to default," said the Prime Minister.
