"Now that Georgia has applied for the EU membership, we will have to work more actively in many areas, in which the support of Germany and other international partners is especially important. Our goal is to move forward quickly, get closer to Europe and increase the export of Georgian products to the European, US and other strategic markets. Germany is an important trade partner for us and we welcome the fact that the export of Georgian products to Germany is growing every year," - said Shamugia.
Hubert Knirsch congratulated Otar Shamugia on his appointment as Minister, wished him success and noted that the German side has a long and good cooperation with the Ministry, which will further continue and will be even more fruitful.
The meeting focused on the ongoing and implemented projects of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development and Reconstruction Credit Bank (KFW) in Georgia for the protection of the environment and biodiversity, forestry and protected areas, as well as trade relations between the two countries.
