The Chairperson-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Elina Valtonen—Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs—will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia from October 13 to 15, according to an official OSCE statement.
During the trip, Valtonen is scheduled to meet with high-level government officials in all three countries. The visit will focus on key regional issues, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, particularly in light of the formal conclusion of the OSCE Minsk Process and its associated structures.
In Georgia, discussions will address both internal and external challenges facing the country, with special emphasis on the OSCE’s continued support for the Geneva International Discussions, which aim to address the consequences of the 2008 war.
The OSCE statement also highlighted that, under Finland’s 2025 chairmanship, special importance is placed on protecting civic space and fostering an enabling environment for civil society—an issue that will be underscored throughout the visit.
