A group of wine professionals from the Republic of Korea is in Georgia under the organization of the National Wine Agency of Georgia in order to diversify the Georgian wine markets,” - the National Wine Agency of Georgia reports.
Among the guests are the founder of the Korean Wine Writers Club, the director of the Eastern and Central European Wine Institute, Chan Jun Park, the president of the Korean International Sommelier Association, Jae Young Ko, as well as managers of large importing companies and wine trade chains.
As part of the visit, the guests will get to know the wine producing companies and their products in Kartli and Kakheti. The members of the group are highly interested in finding new partners in Georgia, which will have a direct impact on increasing the awareness and export of Georgian wine in the Korean market.
Organized by the National Wine Agency of Georgia, a similar wine tour was carried out last year as well, which resulted in a trade partnership between several Georgian wine producing companies and Korean importers.
The Republic of Korea was identified as a strategic market for the National Wine Agency of Georgia in 2019, where a number of important marketing events were implemented with the organization and support of the National Wine Agency. The events served to provide information about the Georgian wine to Korean consumers and promote the Georgian wine.
From this year, the agricultural program of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) has been involved in the promotion of Georgian wine in the Republic of Korea within the framework of the cooperation memorandum signed with the National Wine Agency. With the support of the USAID Agriculture Program, two large-scale presentations and tastings of Georgian wine were organized in the Republic of Korea this year.
