Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated that events following the October 26 elections — including false claims of fraud, staged protests, and an opposition boycott — proved to many voters that they had been deceived.
He said the opposition “fooled and betrayed” the electorate, wasting the trust and mandates they received. According to Papuashvili, the 2024 parliamentary elections marked a clear choice for “peace over war,” reflecting support for Georgia’s sovereignty, traditional values, and national interests.
Papuashvili also accused certain Western actors of “harmful interference” in Georgia’s internal affairs, claiming they sought to replace the government and manipulate public opinion. He praised voters for rejecting these influences in the 2025 local elections, reaffirming their support for the ruling Georgian Dream party.
“The real Georgia stood up to distorted forces,” he concluded. “We will continue defending our country’s peace, independence, and future.”
