In order to reduce the level of environmental pollution, from 2023, only diesel fuel that meets the Standard Euro 5 will be imported into Georgia. The relevant government resolution will come into force from January 1.
"For diesel, we plan to set the Standard Euro 5 from 2023 and, of course, along with setting the standard, the government will constantly control the quality of fuel. The results of the inspection show that the petrol meets the standards defined by the legislation; regarding diesel, we have some minor infringements, that is, there are cases when diesel does not meet the current standard, and, of course, we have quite strict sanctions in this regard," - Nino Tandilashvili, the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, said.
In order to reduce the damage to the environment, another amendment will come into force this year. A draft of amendments to the Administrative Offences Code of Georgia has already been prepared, which provides for the maximum control of motor vehicles with visual emissions.
