The Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has reported notable progress in its Enterprise Georgia micro-entrepreneurship support programme, marking a successful first year of implementation.
According to the Ministry’s press service, over 1,200 loans totaling nearly GEL 60 million were approved in the programme’s first year. These investments have directly contributed to the creation of 2,643 new jobs across the country.
The programme aims to stimulate micro-entrepreneurship, boost employment, and strengthen entrepreneurial capacity. It offers targeted support for entrepreneurs in mountainous regions, women-led businesses, and start-up ventures. Beneficiaries can access:
Full or partial interest subsidies through partnered financial institutions
An 80% loan guarantee
Co-financed consulting services of up to GEL 25,000
To qualify, applicants must have an annual income of no more than GEL 500,000. Loans range from GEL 20,000 to 50,000, with support available for a period of up to five years.
An important addition to the programme has been the launch of regional consulting centres, which have strengthened outreach and support. These centres now operate in Zugdidi, Telavi, Kutaisi, Akhaltsikhe, Batumi, and Tbilisi, providing localized assistance and expert guidance to current and prospective micro-entrepreneurs.
