The delegation of 9 South-Eastern European countries is participating in the 32nd working meeting of the Energy Efficiency Coordination Group created within the European Energy Union in Tbilisi.
The First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze delivered a welcome speech to the participants of the meeting. He reviewed the energy reforms implemented by the Georgian government in recent years.
"One of the important stages of our energy policy is the energy sector reform program of Georgia. It focuses on increasing energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy and ensuring a sustainable and secure energy supply in all sectors. The program is a road map for our energy transformation and helps us harmonize our policies with the EU directives and best practices," said Mikautadze.
According to the First Deputy Minister, Georgia is conducting a number of initiatives to improve energy efficiency in buildings, industry and transport. As he stated, the implementation of energy efficient practices in Georgia not only helps to reduce energy consumption, but also creates a more sustainable and economical energy ecosystem.
Romeo Mikautadze thanked the European Energy Union for choosing Tbilisi as the venue for the high-level regional workshop.
