The Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili highlighted Georgia’s achievements in tourism, economy, trade, transport, energy and other fields at a press briefing to about 200 figures from international media just hours before the opening gala of ITB Berlin, the world’s major international tourism fair that is showcasing Georgia as its Host Country in the German capital.
Davitashvili introduced the country to the press with its unique culture and 8,000-year history of continuous winemaking traditions, while also highlighting its historical significance as a birthplace of the first Europeans as shown by archaeological discoveries of the recent decades, among other notable aspects.
"This was not an ordinary decision, that is, Georgia did not have to accept the status of the host, but it is the result of a trusty and reliable partnership with ITB Berlin and the international tourism community. ITB Berlin is a very important platform for achieving concrete results in the tourism industry. It is special for Georgia to be the host country of this event in 2023, because after the pandemic it is being held in a traditional format for the first time. I think this will significantly increase the awareness of Georgia", - Levan Davitashvili noted.
