
The Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, Davit Iosebashvili, and the Head of BP Company in Georgia, Aytan Hajiyeva, signed a memorandum, within the framework of which, joint projects for the promotion of sustainable development of the protected areas of Georgia will be implemented.
"The Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia cooperates with a number of local and international organizations, which are making a significant contribution to the development of the protected areas of Georgia and the preservation of their biodiversity. It is worth noting that, with the support of BP Georgia, in 2010-2011, the eco-tourism infrastructure, including a viewpoint, cave lighting, a dinosaur conservation building, etc., was fully organized, in the protected areas of Sataplia, which is one of the most popular eco-tourism facilities in Georgia,” - the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Davit Iosebashvili, said.
"I am glad that we continue to cooperate with the Agency of Protected Areas. Sustainable development is one of the main directions of BP's strategy, and this memorandum also serves this purpose. We want to strengthen the protected areas with joint efforts, share experience and promote the protection of biodiversity, the development of ecotourism and the improvement of the socio-economic condition of the population living in the vicinity of the protected areas", - the Head of BP Georgia, Aytan Hajiyeva, stated.
