"Alternative routes of energy resources and diversification of supply in general are very important today. We must develop our cooperation with the EU to an even higher degree in order to ensure Georgia 's security, energy independence, as well as to contribute to common European economic security and economic independence," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said after the GLOBSEC 2022 BRATISLAVA FORUM event. The Minister is in Slovakia within the framework of the visit of the Georgian governmental delegation headed by the Prime Minister of the country.
„One of the main challenges today is high inflation, dependence on energy resources, sources, including the estimated shortage of food products. We talked about the fact that the process of the so-called economic and energy transformation is to be accelerated. In this regard, Georgia's potential is observed in every way - our country has a great potential for renewable energy production; this direction is a priority for the Georgian government,"- the Minister said.
According to Levan Davitashvili, “we must do everything to implement strategically important energy projects in Georgia very quickly.”
"I think that the new perspectives of cooperation with the EU countries are emerging, which will further strengthen Georgia and the South Caucasus region in general and make it competitive in order to be a reliable source of alternative transport flows and enable the country to fulfill its transit function even more efficiently. Of course, I also touched upon the importance of Georgia's accession to the European Union," - Levan Davitashvili said.
