According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the main negotiator from the Georgian side is the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze. 
The signing of the said agreement will encourage Korean investors to increase their existing investments, including their interest in investing in new sectors. According to statistical data, investments from the Republic of Korea were made in Georgia for the first time in 1997. Since then, including 2021, the volume of investments amounted to 209.47 million USD; In 2016-2021, the volume of investments totaled 128.94 million USD.
"The Republic of Korea is one of the important countries for us, with the greatest potential for attracting investments. In addition, it is worth noting the increasing interest of Korean investors in Georgia in recent years, mainly regarding the field of energy. We are sure that the signing of a bilateral agreement on the promotion and protection of investments between Georgia and the Republic of Korea, which will create a solid legal basis for cooperation in the field of investments, will contribute to the movement of capital, the stimulation of entrepreneurial initiatives and the prosperity of both states, the economic development of the contracting parties, the effective use of economic resources, opportunities and raising the standard of living," - the Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze said.
The draft provisions of the mentioned agreement include the mechanisms of protection of investments and investors, in case of disputes between the parties, the ways of solving them, which is an important prerequisite for the development of investment activities between the parties.
As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister also held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea. Prospects for deepening cooperation between Georgia and Korea were discussed at the meeting.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Justice, Foreign Affairs and Finance also participated in the group of negotiators from the side of Georgia.
