
The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Municipality of Lugano, Switzerland, Robert Bregy, as reported by the National Bank.
The Secretary General and members of the Lugano delegation visited Tbilisi as part of an international event focused on the FinTech Development Strategy.
During the meeting, the Georgian side presented an overview of Georgia's FinTech ecosystem, highlighting its current achievements and outlining upcoming initiatives aimed at advancing financial technologies in the country.
In response, Robert Bregy shared information about Lugano’s ongoing projects related to financial services and technologies, offering insights into the Swiss city’s innovative efforts.
The two sides discussed potential areas for future collaboration in the FinTech sector.
The meeting was also attended by Pietro Poretti, Head of Economic Development for the Municipality of Lugano, and Marco Dal Lago, Vice President for Global Expansion.
Lugano, located in Switzerland’s Italian-speaking region, has emerged over the past five years as a dynamic center for FinTech and blockchain innovation. The city’s progressive approach includes the launch of a municipal stablecoin, the issuance of tokenized municipal securities, and the development of a FinTech-friendly regulatory environment. These initiatives are part of Lugano's broader strategy to become a leading hub for blockchain and financial technology.
