Today, the newly appointed NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina will meet with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze.
Meetings will focus on the security challenges in the country and region, as well as the need to speed up Georgia’s NATO membership issue.
“Georgia’s NATO membership is critical to strengthening regional security, as well as to protecting member states from threats stemming from Russia,” said Chairman of Defense and Security Committee at Parliament of Georgia Irakli Beraia.
Yesterday, Javier Colomina held meetings with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava. He also visited Odzisi village, adjacent to Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia occupation line.
