“Given the increased risks in the region, both foreign and Georgian banks are analyzing whether it is acceptable for them to use the resources needed to determine compliance with specific transactions.
In recent days, misinformation has been spread about banning transactions from European countries to Georgia. We appeal to the public that this is a lie and an attempt to mislead the citizens. Based on this assessment and the commercial policy-procedures of the commercial bank, decisions are made about a specific transaction. An example of this is the information spread on the Internet by one of the Swedish commercial banks about the termination of transactions for individuals in the direction of Georgia. We note here that a number of other Swedish banks, as well as European and US financial institutions, continue to make transfers in the standard mode, "- said in a statement issued by the National Bank of Georgia.
