The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili held a meeting with the EU evaluators mission. The representatives of the European Union have monitored the implementation of the obligations undertaken for the year 2023 of the fourth phase of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD), which includes the components of food safety and rural development.
"The mission positively assessed the dynamics of fulfilling the obligations undertaken by Georgia and reviewed the progress and results achieved in the agrarian sector of Georgia in a positive light. The European Union officials shared important recommendations to the Georgian side in terms of agriculture and rural development on the way to the membership of the European Union.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia thanked the EU evaluators' mission for its positive assessment and expressed readiness to continue further cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit to Georgia, the EU evaluators’ mission held meetings with the representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry, the National Food Agency, the Rural Development Agency and the representatives of the reclamation of Georgia.
It should be noted that the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) has been working in Georgia since 2013. The ENPARD is one of the most successful programs of the European Union, the purpose of which is to support the development of agriculture in the country, improve the living standards of the rural population, reduce the level of poverty, promote the employment of the local population, as well as increase the quality and competitiveness of the products produced in Georgia and promote their export to the European Union.
