“Ivanishvili’s regime has crossed every line,” Member of the European Parliament Rasa Jukneviciene wrote on social media.

Jukneviciene sharply criticized the arrest of Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria, calling for immediate sanctions against the Georgian government.

“Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the opposition party Droa, has just been arrested by the ruling Georgian regime. She was one of the few remaining in freedom. Ivanishvili’s regime has crossed every line. The EU member states must act, we need sanctions now!” Jukneviciene wrote.

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Khoshtaria is being detained in connection with the alleged damage to election banners of the Georgian Dream–Democratic Georgia’s Tbilisi mayoral candidate.
