A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the leading global payment and technology company Mastercard and the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia, the purpose of which is to promote the development of financial education in Georgia. Within the framework of the partnership, it is planned to arrange a corner of financial literature in the National Library, organize public lectures and various interesting activities.
Mastercard implemented several important initiatives in Georgia for the development of financial education. The first Georgian financial dictionary was published in cooperation with the Free University of Tbilisi. Along with defining financial terms, the team also worked on creating an online version of the dictionary, making the definitions easily accessible. In addition, together with Giorgi Bakradze and "Society and Banks", Mastercard also hosted an educational competition.
As part of cooperation, Mastercard and the National Library of Georgia will also offer joint lectures, seminars and workshops to readers regarding financial education. This initiative is very relevant and necessary in a country where, according to a recent study, only 38% of adults have received financial education.
The Director of the National Library of Georgia, Giorgi Kekelidze: "Partnership with Mastercard is very important for us in order to raise financial literacy in Georgia. We are confident that the library's financial literature space will provide people with access to useful information and tools."
One of the important parts of Mastercard's social responsibility is to increase access to financial education worldwide and to support this process in Georgia, together with the National Library and other partners.
