“It is a meeting of two miraculous countries, and I think it provides not just a political basis for the relationship between the two countries, but even provides great relationships between the roots of these two countries,” said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at an official dinner at the Tsinandali Radisson Collection Hotel.
“First of all, may I say on behalf of the Hungarian delegation how proud we are to be invited here, Prime Minister, and being hosted by you and your wife. It is always good to see a couple in politics who are still not just speaking about family values but showing a good example to all of us. And the reason why it is good to come to Georgia to see good examples to the Hungarians.
So, if I say in that way, thank you, Irakli, thank you very much for the invitation. It is an old friendship between us. And I hope that this visit underlines how important and valuable the relationship is between these two nations.
Dear Irakli, in the modern world there is a discussion whether there are miracles or not. So, we Christians think yes. But everybody who does not believe that still miracles are existing, should come to this room this evening. Because there are at least two miracles in this room. The first one is the Georgian miracle: having your history, the geopolitics surrounding your nation, the fact itself that there are still existing the Georgian people, there is a language like Georgian, and the people living here are speaking that language. There is a Georgian state, and this state is still a Christian one-that is a miracle.
And the second miracle is the Hungarian one in this room. As you know, we Hungarians came from the very Far East, beyond the Ural Mountains, and occupied the country where we live, dear Georgian friends, 1100 years ago, as aliens, no relatives, no family members around us-only we Hungarians alone. We alone. We occupied that territory. We still have the same language. We still cultivate the same culture, and we live our own lives.
So, it is a miracle that still there are Hungarians who speak the Hungarian language; there is a Hungarian state, and this state is a Christian one-it is the second miracle.
So, it is a meeting of two miraculous countries, and I think it provides not just a political basis for the relationship between the two countries, but even provides great relationships between the roots of these two countries.
So, I raise my glass to the continuation of that special friendship between the two miraculous nations! Thank you very much, Prime Minister!” Viktor Orbán said.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, accompanied by a delegation, arrived in Georgia on October 10. The Prime Ministers of Georgia and Hungary will make joint press statements on October 12.
