Today is May 9 - the day of victory over fascism. 78 years have passed since the end of the Second World War. During the Second World War, 700,000 people left Georgia, half of them never returned.
After Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945, the World War II ended, and May 9 was declared Victory over Fascism.
This year, due to the ongoing rehabilitation works in Vaki Park, war veterans will gather in the Veterans' Culture and Recreation Park (the so-called Kikvidze Park). Government officials will also arrive at the park and decorate the bust of Meliton Kantaria with flowers.
