In March 2025, the average cost of preparing one standard portion of Imeretian khachapuri was 6.93 GEL, reflecting an 8.3% rise compared to March 2024. However, on a month-to-month basis, the price dropped by 1.6% compared to February 2025.
Notable annual price increases were seen in key khachapuri ingredients: cheese (+14.9%), butter (+13.4%), yeast (+2.1%), and milk (+1.1%). On the other hand, eggs (-5.8%) and flour (-5.7%) saw price reductions.
The Khachapuri Index recorded an overall monthly decline in March, with cheese (-2.5%) and milk (-0.9%) contributing significantly to this decrease. This aligns with seasonal trends in local dairy production, which typically increases in spring, pushing prices lower. Additionally, the start of Great Lent on March 3rd may have contributed to reduced demand for dairy products, further driving down prices.
Other khachapuri ingredients mostly saw slight price drops, including flour (-0.8%), eggs (-0.8%), and yeast (-0.3%). The exception was butter, which saw a notable increase of +3.4% compared to February.
