“Joint-stock company Kaztransoil, which provides transportation of oil to the domestic market of Kazakhstan, as well as for transit and export purposes, plans to send 1.4 million tons of oil to the international sea trade port of Baku,” - the source of Kaztransoil told Trend agency exclusively.
"The company plans to transport 1.4 million tons of oil from Aktau port to Baku port by the end of this year," the source said.
This is more volume than what was recently mentioned by the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov. According to his forecast, oil supply from Kazakhstan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline will reach 1.125 million tons by the end of 2023. It is true that the agreement signed between the parties provides for the transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil this year, but considering that the delivery started in April, the Minister did not expect to transport more than 1.125 million tons of oil through the BTC pipeline by the end of the year.
Azerbaijan receives 12 to 14 tankers of Kazakh oil every month.
It should be noted that Kaztransoil increased the volume of Kazakh oil exported to the port of Baku 12 times in the first eight months of this year. In particular, the volume of Kazakh oil export from the Aktau port in January-August of this year amounted to 2,164 million tons, which, compared to the same period last year, is 759 thousand tons or 54% more. Of these, 520 thousand tons are from Tengiz, 252 thousand tons from Dunga, 1.385 million tons from the Buzachi Peninsula, and 7 thousand tons from the Kashagan Field.
According to the source, Kaztransoil will increase the total volume of transported oil this year, which will reach 41.6 million tons. The source also notes that the company has not yet planned the volume of oil transportation for 2024. In 2022, the total volume of oil transportation through the main pipeline system of Kaztransoil was 40,656 million tons, which, compared to 2021, was 568 thousand tons less.
