The Georgian government delegation is visiting Kazakhstan on an official visit. According to the Kazakh media, as part of the two-day visit, meetings of the Head of the Government of Georgia with the leadership of Kazakhstan are planned, during which, the parties will discuss the issues of deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
It should be noted that last year Kazakhstan carried out direct investment worth of 11 million dollars in Georgia. The Kazakh investment in the country in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to 1.8 million dollars.
According to the data of 6 months of external trade of Georgia, in the first half of the year Kazakhstan took the last place in the ten export countries with a share of 3.1%. However, according to trade turnover, the country ranks 21st with 95.5 million dollars. The total rate of export and import between the countries increased by 151% compared to the same period last year.
In January-June 2022, Georgia earned 79.2 million dollars from the export of goods to Kazakhstan, which is 175.8% higher than the figure of the same period last year. As for imports, 16.3 million dollars were sent from Georgia to Kazakhstan to purchase products with different names. As a result, the import increased by 74.7%, although it decreased compared to 2020, 2019 and 2018.
Tourism statistics represent one of the important parameters in economic relations. In this regard, it should be noted that according to the official data of the National Tourism Statistics, 45,396 visits were made by Kazakh travelers from Kazakhstan in the 6th month of 2022, which is 193.4% higher than the figure of the same period in 2021, while 36.4% higher compared to the period before the pandemic (in 6 months of 2021 - 15,379 visits; in 6 months of 2019 - 33,272 visits).
