
“In the second quarter of this year, KazTransOil increased oil exports from the Tengiz field to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to 347.1 thousand tons,” – the press service of the company reported.
Thus, in April-June, the export volume increased 18 times, while in the first quarter of the current year, that is, in January-March, a total of 19.2 thousand tons of oil was sent for export from the Tengiz field to the BTC pipeline.
The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as part of the diversification of routes, instructed the government to increase oil transportation through the Trans-Caspian Corridor as early as 2022. According to this instruction, the national company KazMunayGas and the state oil company of Azerbaijan SOCAR signed an agreement, which provides for the transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil per year from the Tengiz field to the direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
Delivery of Tengiz oil to BTC pipeline from Aktau port started in March of this year. Currently, the oil volume is being supplied from the resources of Tengizchevroil, the operator of the development of the Tengiz and Korolevskoe fields.
