Starting from January 1, the increase has affected up to 6,000 medical personnel, the body said, with the minimum wage categories set as follows:
Junior doctor - GEL 960 ($357.57) per month, GEL 5 ($1.86) per hour
Assistant nurse - GEL 672 ($250.30) per month, GEL 3.5 ($1.30) per hour
Midwife - GEL 844 ($314.37) per month, GEL 4.4 ($1.64) per hour
Sanitary worker - GEL 576 ($214.54) per month, GEL 3 ($1.12) per hour
The latest update follows on initial minimum hourly wage change that entered into force a year ago and set it at GEL 7 ($2.61) for physicians and GEL 4.4 ($1.64) for nurses.
The Ministry said the first stage of the reform had led to improvements in working conditions for about 15,000 medical professionals.
The reform requires clinics joining the Universal Healthcare Programme to set wages in accordance with the minimum threshold.
