Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, stated, "It is unfortunate that some representatives within the European Union and Brussels are playing a negative role in maintaining stability in Georgia. Their statements often seem to be aimed at undermining the stability that our country desperately needs."
Botchorishvili further emphasized, “They assess the ongoing processes in Georgia in a very subjective manner and, in some cases, contribute to destabilizing our country. Too often, their remarks work against the stability we so urgently require."
Earlier today, EU High Representative and Vice-President, Kaja Kallas, expressed concern regarding the detentions in Georgia. "This issue will certainly come up in discussions. We are deeply concerned about the arrests and the violence against peaceful protesters. We’ve also been applying pressure on those responsible for these actions," Kaja Kallas said.
