Italy and Georgia have reached an agreement to mutually recognize and exchange national driving licenses, allowing Georgian citizens living in Italy to swap their Georgian licenses for Italian ones without taking extra exams.
This development was announced during Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Zurabashvili’s recent visit to Rome, where he and Georgian Police Attache Vladimer Bortsvadze held talks with officials at the Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the new arrangement will simplify the process for Georgians in Italy, making it easier to obtain an Italian driving license. The Italian side has expressed its readiness to formalize the agreement once all necessary procedures are finalized.
Georgia already has similar license recognition agreements with Spain, Greece, and Ireland.
