“The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, discussed the issue of the grain self-sufficiency in the direction of food security, diversification of export markets for the Georgian wine, increasing access to agricultural machinery, access to the latest technologies and value chain research at the meeting with the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Jewel Bronaugh,” – the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported.
"We are planning specific steps to increase wheat productivity. It is quite realistic that Georgia will be able to produce 300-400 thousand tons of wheat, which will allow us to reduce our dependence on imports", - Otar Shamugia said.
As the Minister noted, the Georgian agro-food products, including the Georgian wine, have the potential to export to the US market. It should be noted that according to the data of the 6th month of 2022, the export of the Georgian wine to the United States of America increased by 15%.
