
"The first round of the negotiations on the economic partnership between Georgia and the Republic of Korea ended with the signing of a joint protocol. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze and the Director General of the Department of Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Chang Sung-gil attended the signatory ceremony. According to the protocol, the next round of the negotiations will be held in Seoul in the spring of 2024," - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports.
As per Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze, the first round of the negotiations was successfully completed, during which the parties discussed such issues as trade in goods and services, rules of origin, customs procedures, sanitary and phytosanitary measures and technical barriers in trade. Part of the negotiations was devoted to such important areas of economic cooperation covered by the agreement as transport, energy and investments.
It should be noted that the the negotiations on the economic partnership are comprehensive and cover all trade-related areas, therefore, the representatives of the economy, finance, environment protection and agriculture, foreign affairs, justice, as well as the National Bank, the public procurement, competition agency and Sakpatent (National Intellectual Property Centre) officials participated in the negotiations.
