According to the data of the last month, international commercial flights using the Georgian airspace increased by 76%. As Eurocontrol (the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation) informs, the routes of air traffic flows changed after flights via the borders of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus were significantly delayed.
As of February 14 - March 14, the flights between Germany and China increased by 10%.Eurocontrol explains that European carriers operate on southern routes - for example, via Georgia, while non-European airlines, which still use Russian airspace, continue to fly north excluding the Baltic states’ airspace. As a result, the Baltic states have lost significant air flows. Lithuania, for example, loses about 200 flights (-46%) per day. The reason for the reduction of the flight frequency is that air traffic flows from Germany, France and Great Britain to Russia have been suspended.
Flights between Turkey and Russia continue however, this route scale has reduced by about 30%.
