Georgia has been included among the top tourist destinations for 2026 by the British publication The Independent, according to travel expert Lauren Taylor, the National Tourism Agency of Georgia reports.
Georgia appears on the list alongside destinations such as Mallorca, the United States, and South Korea. Taylor notes that EasyJet’s new flight route from London Luton to Tbilisi, launched in late 2025, along with additional international routes planned for 2026, is expected to significantly boost visitor numbers to the country, which had previously been overshadowed by neighbouring Turkey.
Describing Georgia as “a fabulous country,” travel experts predict it will grow in popularity. Taylor highlights Tbilisi’s wide boulevards, cobbled streets in the historic old town, and famous sulphur baths, as well as cultural landmarks beyond the capital, including ancient monasteries and the UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery in Kutaisi.
“Everyone we send to Georgia comes back saying it’s just amazing,” the article notes, praising the country’s cuisine and its 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition, considered the oldest in the world.
