According to the data published by the Georgian National Statistics Office (GEOSTAT), in the second quarter of 2022, the volume of gross domestic product at the current prices equaled GEL 18 billion, and compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the growth of real gross domestic product amounted to 7.1%. The GDP deflator increased by 8.2%.
As a whole, in the first half of the year, the GDP of Georgia amounted to GEL 32.4 billion. The economic growth in the first quarter was 14.9%.
"In the second quarter of 2022, the following sectors made a significant contribution to the economic growth: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (75.9%), transport and warehousing (18.6%), information and communication (27.7%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (10.9%), education (12.0%), wholesale and retail trade (3.0%).
The economic delcine was noted in the following sectors: health care and social service activities (-12.7%), real estate-related activities (-2.7%), construction (-3.2%).
Trade (16.5%) and processing industry (10.9%) have the largest share in the sectoral structure of the gross domestic product. The following positions are occupied by real estate activities (10.0%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (8.3%), construction (7.6%), transportation and warehousing (6.5%), government (6.0%), arts, entertainment and recreation (4.8%)," - the GEOSTAT report reads.
