“In the first quarter of 2023, 1.048 million people traveled to Georgia by air, which is 49.9% more than the figure recorded in the first quarter of 2022, and 3.3% more than the first quarter of 2019 before the pandemic,” - PMCG's monthly tourism review says.
According to the same research, the number of passengers in the international airports of Georgia was the highest in Tbilisi (713,600). It is followed by Kutaisi (253 100) and Batumi (77 100).
Despite the significant increase compared to last year, the number of passengers at Tbilisi Airport does not reach the pre-pandemic level, and compared to the first quarter of 2019, this figure is 11% less. Unlike Tbilisi, the number of passengers in Kutaisi and Batumi airports significantly exceeded the pre-pandemic number.
Compared to the first quarter of last year, the flow of passengers decreased at the Ambrolauri Airport this year.
