According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in January-June 2023, Georgia's foreign trade turnover of goods (without undeclared trade) was 10.268 billion USD, which is 20.1 percent more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Out of this, export value amounted to 3.052 billion US dollars (increased by 19.3 percent), and import value is 7.215 billion US dollars (increased by 20.4 percent). The negative trade balance of Georgia in January-June 2023 amounted to 4.163 billion US dollars, which is 40.5 percent of the foreign trade turnover.
"In January-June 2023, the share of Georgia's top trading partners by exports amounted to 80.6 percent. The top three exporters were formed as follows: Armenia (440.0 million US dollars), Azerbaijan (413.3 million US dollars) and Russia (343.9 million US dollars).
In January-June 2023, the share of Georgia's top trading partners by imports amounted to 70.5 percent. The top three include: Turkey (1,246.9 million US dollars), Russia (927.3 million US dollars) and the USA (775.2 million US dollars).
The largest import commodity group in January-June 2023 was presented in the form of light vehicles, the import of which amounted to 1,313.5 million USD - 18.2 percent of all imports. Oil products ranked 2nd with $496.8 million (6.9 percent of imports), while oil gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons are in the third place with $275.6 million (3.8 percent of imports).
