
The National Bank of Georgia has published its tourism statistics for the month of September, according to which, last month the country received the revenues of $376 million from international visitors. This amount has increased by 132% compared to the previous year.
In total, in the first 9 months of the year, Georgia received $2.5 billion from tourism, which is 190% more than the earnings recorded in the previous year.
The National Bank of Georgia also calculates tourism revenues in terms of specific countries. According to the NBG, in September, Georgia received the largest amount - $96 million from Russian travelers. Travelers from the EU countries spent $45 million, Turkish citizens - $36 million, Ukrainians - $32 million, and Israeli citizens - $32 million - in Georgia in September.
According to the estimates of the National Bank of Georgia, Belarusian visitors spent $21 million in Georgia in September.
To be informed, according to the tourism strategy prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the revenues received from tourism should amount to $3 billion this year. By 2025, the country expects to earn $5.2 billion from tourism.
