The National Bank of Georgia has published interactive press release money transfers statistics for May 2023.
According to the document, the volume of money transfers from abroad constitutes $385 million, which is 24% less than the amount in May 2022. The main reason for the decrease in money transfers is the decrease in transfers from Russia.
Last month, a total of $155 million was transferred from Russia, which is 51% less compared to the same period of the previous year. Instead, the volume of money transfers from Italy, the USA, Greece, Turkey and other countries have increased.
In May 2023, 30.9 million US dollars (78.3 million GEL) were sent abroad from Georgia, which is 7.9% (28.7 million US dollars) more than the similar figure of May 2022.
