
"In July 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year, electricity production in Georgia decreased by 1.1% and amounted to 1,525 gigawatt hours," - the TBC Capital's energy market overview says.
According to the report, electricity consumption in Georgia increased by 13.6% in July. In particular, the annual growth of consumption in the retail sector was 12.9%, and in the case of large consumers, the growth rate was 21.8%. In addition, electricity consumption in the Abkhazian A/R increased by 4.3% annually in July.
In the balancing electricity market, the cost of one kilowatt-hour of electricity equaled 5.71 US cents, which is an annual increase of 9%. Moreover, in July 2024, Georgia's export balance amounted to 228 GW of electricity, which is an annual decrease of 42.5%. Turkey is still Georgia's top trading partner by electricity export.
