According to the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, 2.6 million tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in July. The oil pipeline had exactly the same capacity last month.
In July, the Western Route Export Pipeline [Baku Supsa Oil Pipeline] was still suspended.
In seven months of this year, a total of 17.7 million tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) and Baku Supsa Oil Pipelines. The Baku Supsa Oil Pipeline was functional only in February 2023 and 100 thousand tons of oil was transported. BP, the operator of the pipeline, says that it will only work in case of forming any contracts.
To be reminded, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline is one of the important strategic objects passing through Georgia. The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, together with an international consortium, is responsible for managing the Georgian section of the 1,768-kilometer long pipeline, which publishes monthly statistics on the volume of oil transported.
