According to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy, Georgia imported 0.5 billion cubic meters of gas in January-February 2025. The ministry reported that a total of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas were produced at the start of the year, with nearly half of it being exported.
The largest share of gas exports traditionally goes to Europe, where exports have been increasing significantly in recent years. In January-February, 1.9 billion cubic meters were exported to Europe, 1.4 billion to Turkey, and 0.5 billion to Georgia.
Azerbaijan has been the main supplier of gas to Georgia, meeting around 80% of the country's total consumption in previous years. In 2024, Azerbaijan exported 2.4 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia, 100 million cubic meters less than in 2023. It's worth noting that gas imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia have been declining in recent years.
