
In January-August, a record amount of electricity was exported abroad from Georgia.
In January-August 2023, 1,336.3 million kWh of electricity was exported from Georgia, from which the country received more than $94 million. Compared to the corresponding period last year, the revenue from exports has increased by 23%.
Electricity worth almost $85 million was exported to Turkey in 8 months, which is an increase of about $13 million compared to the corresponding period of last year. The country sold electricity worth $5.1 million to Azerbaijan, the increase compared to the corresponding period of 2022 is almost $1.2 million. Electricity export to Armenia increased to $4.1 million this year.
1,171.47 million kWh of electricity (88%) was exported to Turkey. 86.16 million kWh and 78.46 million kWh of electricity were exported to Azerbaijan and Armenia. It should be noted that in 2022, a total of 971 million kWh of electricity was exported from Georgia.
