
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in the first quarter of 2024, 4,041 ships entered the ports and terminals of Georgia, of which 42.3 percent were general cargo carriers, 28.0 percent - liquid cargo carriers, 23.3 percent - container carriers, and the remaining 6.4 percent included bulk carriers, tugs and specialized ships.
In the first quarter of 2024, 17.8 percent of the ships that entered the ports and terminals of Georgia sailed under the flag of Panama, 16.6 percent - of Turkey, 9.7 percent - of Liberia, 9.2 percent - of Russia, 7.7 percent - of Malta, and the remaining 39.0 percent included other countries.
“In the first quarter of 2024, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the ports and terminals of Georgia received 28.6 percent more specialized ships, 9.6 percent more - general cargo carriers, 1.8 percent more - liquid cargo carriers, 1.1 percent more - container carriers and 36.0 percent less - bulk carriers,” - the GEOSTAT reported.
